Rider Hurt After Motorcycle Collides with Vehicle in Canyon Country
CANYON COUNTRY, CA (April 20, 2020) — A two-vehicle collision at Sierra Highway and Jakes Way left a motorcycle rider injured Thursday night.
The authorities said a motorcycle and another vehicle collided in the area at about 8:48 p.m.
First responders attended to the rider and subsequently transported them to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, there was no word whether the driver of the other vehicle also sustained injuries in the crash.
The officers closed both northbound and southbound lanes of Sierra Highway while they process the scene. Meantime, the cause and the circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation.
When driving, it is important to keep an eye out for motorcyclists. Check all your mirrors and blind spots for motorcycles before merging with traffic or changing lanes, especially at intersections. Also, allow more following distance when behind a motorcycle. This gives them more time to react or stop in case of an emergency. If you are riding a motorcycle, do not underestimate the bike’s speed. Use hand and turn signals when you change lane or turn. To increase visibility, wear brightly colored clothes and reflective tape. Create safer roads and save lives by abiding all traffic laws and observing safety precautions.
