Man Fatally Injured after Manteca Car Accident on Highway 99
MANTECA, CA (February 19, 2020) — A man died following a car accident on Highway 99 near the Lathrop Road off-ramp on Friday, February 14.
According to California Highway Patrol, shortly before 5:00 p.m., a 50-year-old man crashed into the concrete center median while driving north on Highway 99. He did not wear his seatbelt during the accident. The impact of that crash ejected the driver into the southbound lanes of the highway. After that, a 2016 Toyota, driven by Constance Schlotthauer, struck him.
The identity of the deceased was not yet released.
CHP said Schlotthauer remained at the scene and cooperated with the crash investigation.
It is not yet determined if drugs or alcohol played a factor in this collision.
Authorities shut down Highway 99 for the investigation. They fully cleared the lanes shortly before 8:00 p.m. However, no further information about the incident was available.
