Man Killed, Jecenia Hedrick Arrested after Rollover Crash on 5 Freeway

 
REDDING, CA (February 14, 2020) – Authorities identified 22-year-old Jecenia Hedrick of Anderson as the driver arrested following a fatal DUI crash on 5 Freeway, early Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 1:00 AM. A 2013 Honda Civic, driven by Hedrick, slammed into the rear of a 2006 BMW sedan. The impact of the collision caused the BMW to overturn near Lake Boulevard.
 
A short time later, a tractor-trailer struck the disabled BMW sedan.
 
Emergency responders pronounced the 20-year-old BMW driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin.
 
Meanwhile, a Honda passenger, 25-year-old James Parscal, sustained major injuries.
 
Hedrick was also transported to the hospital with major injuries. Officers later arrested her for felony DUI and manslaughter.
 
CHP continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
