33-Year-Old Breana Roinestad Arrested after Golf Cart Crash in Heritage Ranch

HERITAGE RANCH, CA (February 15, 2020) – Authorities identified 33-year-old Breana Roinestad as the driver arrested following a DUI crash involving a golf cart, Saturday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 5:06 PM. A silver Yamaha golf cart, driven by Roinestad, was eastbound on Heritage Boat Launch Road toward a junction with Heritage Road.

At the intersection, a northbound 2018 Chevy Silverado made an unsafe turning movement. There, it struck the left side of the golf cart. The impact of the collision ejected five unrestrained children, ages 3 to 11, from the golf cart.

Emergency responders airlifted two children to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera County. Meanwhile, two other children have been discharged from Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center after receiving treatment for their injuries. It is unknown whether or not the fifth child needed hospitalization.

The woman in the golf cart’s passenger seat, 27-year-old Katie Gradoville, did not sustain injuries. The Chevy driver, 29-year-old Jacob Walz, also did not suffer injuries.

Authorities arrested Roinestad under suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol along with other charges. After CHP tested her blood alcohol levels, they issued a citation to Roinestad for DUI. Then, officers released her from the office to a family member.

Do not attempt to drive when under the influence of drugs or alcohol. When involved in a crash, do not attempt to leave the scene. Then, report the incident and wait for the police.
