Veteran Actor Orson Bean Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Venice Boulevard
VENICE, CA (February 7, 2020) – Veteran actor and comedian Orson Bean died after two vehicles hit him on Venice Boulevard, Friday evening.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened at about 7:30 PM. 91-year-old Bean attempted to cross near the Pacific Resident Theatre. Bean crossed the road outside of a crosswalk in the Venice neighborhood when he was clipped by a westbound Honda Civic and fell.
A second driver then struck him in what police say was the fatal collision. Both drivers remained on the scene. In addition, neither was impaired.
Emergency responders pronounced Bean dead at the scene. Bean’s death is being treated as an accident
Bean made more than 100 appearances in television and film in an acting career that spanned back to the 1950s. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Alley Mills. The couple had been performing together in a Ruskin Group Theatre production of “Bad Habits.”
The drivers involved remained and cooperated with investigators. In addition, both drivers claim that they did not see Bean crossing the street. However, authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash.
