Veteran Actor Orson Bean Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Venice Boulevard
VENICE, CA (February 7, 2020) – Veteran actor Orson Bean, 91, was struck and killed by two vehicles on Venice Boulevard, Friday evening.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident happened at about 7:30 PM. Bean attempted to cross near the Pacific Resident Theatre outside a marked crosswalk. There, a westbound Honda Civic struck him.
Bystanders tried to warn a second vehicle, but the driver failed to slow down and also hit the pedestrian.
Emergency responders pronounced Bean dead at the scene.
Bean made more than 100 appearances in television and film in an acting career that spanned back to the 1950s. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Alley Mills. The couple had been performing together in a Ruskin Group Theatre production of “Bad Habits.”
The drivers involved remained and cooperated with investigators. Both drivers claim that they did not see Bean crossing the street. Authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash.
