Jean Macke Dead, Silun Xie and Xumin Yang Injured in Two-Car Crash on Highway 50

 
POLLOCK PINES, CA (February 10, 2020) — An 89-year-old woman identified as Jean Macke died in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday, February 6.
 
According to officials said Macke drove her 2014 Ford Escape on westbound Highway 50, just west of Fresh Pond. Then she collided into a 2013 Toyota Sienna moving on westbound Highway 50.
 
As Macke moves towards a slight curve in the roadway, her vehicle crossed over into the No. 1 lane of westbound Highway 50, said officials.
 
It is not yet determined why Macke’s car went into the westbound lanes, CHP said.
 
Medical responders rushed the driver, Silun Xie, and the passenger, Xumin Yang, of the Toyota to a nearby hospital with major injuries.
 
Macke succumbed to his fatal injuries at the hospital, CHP stated.
 
It is not yet determined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the incident. No other information was available.
