Person Injured in Train-Vehicle Collision near Dayton Street [Edmonds, WA]
1 Injured in Edmonds Collision Involving Train and Vehicle
EDMONDS, WA (February 07, 2020) — A person suffered injuries in a train-vehicle collision near Dayton Street in Edmonds early Tuesday morning.
According to the Edmond police, at about 5 a.m., a freight train collided with a vehicle that was left on the train track area.
Emergency crews transported an injured man to Harborview Medical Center. The patient was reportedly talking to the officers who responded to the crash.
The train had minimal damage. Crews waited for a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the track.
The collision blocked all access to and from the Edmonds terminal, causing the Edmonds-Kingston ferry route to stop working. The Washington State Ferries suggested using Seattle-Bainbridge as an alternative way.
Meantime, the Sounder North Line Train #1701 headed back to the Mukilteo Station until the tracks near Edmonds were cleared at about 7 a.m.
The incident was under investigation.
Just like the open road, train tracks can be very dangerous to be around. It is important to abide by all railroad crossings and to never enter train tracks when an oncoming train is approaching. If for some reason an issue occurs near train tracks, be sure to contact authorities to assist.
