One Fatally Injured after Los Angeles Hit-and-Run Collision on South Hill Street

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 7, 2020) – A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries following a hit-and-run collision on South Hill Street on Thursday, February 6.
 
The crash happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. on South Hill Street near the West Adams Boulevard intersection.
 
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, investigators believe that the victim walked outside of the marked crosswalk. After that, a Toyota Prius traveling southbound on Hill Street struck him.
 
The victim, a 34-year-old man, died at the scene, police said. His identity was not yet released.
 
The Prius continued a short distance on Hill Street. Then the driver abandoned the vehicle near 30th Street and fled on foot.
 
Bloodhounds were brought to the scene to help search for the driver. The bloodhounds did hit on a scent. That scent lead back to his residence, LAPD Capt. John Pinto stated. After that, officers found him and took him into custody without incident.
 
Police have not released the identity of the driver.
