Three Extricated after Multi-Vehicle Crash on 5 Freeway near 8 Freeway
MISSION BAY, CA (February 6, 2020) – Three people suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on 5 Freeway, Thursday morning.
According to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Department, the incident happened at about 11:30 AM. Due to unknown circumstances, multiple vehicles collided just east of SeaWorld.
Emergency crews extricated three people from a vehicle in connection with the crash. Medics transported two people to a UC San Diego hospital with major injuries. Meanwhile, the third victim was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
Officials shut down lanes along southbound 5 Freeway at 8 Freeway for several hours to clear the area.
San Diego police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
