Man Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck on Redondo Avenue at Hill Street

 
LONG BEACH, CA (February 5, 2020) – A man was fatally struck by a pickup truck on Redondo Avenue in Long Beach about 7:15 p.m. on Friday, January 31.
 
According to the Long Beach Police Department, a 49-year-old Long Beach man drove a 2020 Ford Ranger on Redondo Avenue before the impact. After that, he proceeded through the intersection at Hill Street on a green light.
 
The pedestrian crossed Redondo Avenue at Hill Street against the red light when the vehicle struck him, the police report stated.
 
Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital with major injuries to his upper and lower torso. He succumbed to those injuries a short time later.
 
The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. Officials do not suspect DUI or distracted driving as contributing factors.
 
The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately released pending positive identification and notification of loved ones by coroner’s officials.
