Cyclist Fatally Struck by Car on Philadelphia Street near Bridger Avenue
CHINO, CA (February 4, 2020) – A cyclist was struck and killed by a vehicle on Philadelphia Street in Chino on Saturday, February 1.
According to Chino police Lt. Nick Marotta, the cyclist, identified by police as a 37-year-old man who lives in Pomona, rode his bike along Philadelphia Street near Bridger Avenue. After that, a vehicle collided into the man in the 5100 block of Philadelphia Street.
A witness reported to the police about the crash around 7:25 p.m., Marotta said. Officers responded and found the 37-year-old lying on the pavement, unresponsive.
Paramedics rushed him to Chino Valley Medical Center, where medical personnel pronounced him dead.
The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with police.
Traffic investigators have yet to determine the reason behind the collision. It was not clear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident.
