Deadly Redding Head-On Crash on Highway 299 Allegedly Caused by DUI Driver
REDDING, CA (January 31, 2020) — A woman died in a head-on crash on Highway 299 near the Whiskeytown scales Wednesday night.
The incident involved two pickup trucks according to the California Highway Patrol. The female victim was driving a Chevy eastbound towards Redding. The alleged DUI driver, on the other hand, was driving a Toyota pickup truck westbound towards Weaverville.
Emergency crews performed life-saving efforts on the female driver. However, she died before they could take her to the hospital.
Based on updated reports, the authorities arrested the driver of the Toyota on suspicion of driving under the influence. The investigation is ongoing.
