Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Car on 5 Freeway near Aliso Creek Rest Area

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (February 3, 2020) — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car on 5 Freeway near Camp Pendleton on Friday, January 31.
 
According to a California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 6:15 a.m. on northbound 5 Freeway just north of the Aliso Creek rest area on the northbound side.
 
The victim, a pedestrian, died at the scene, a CHP dispatcher stated.
 
No information about the victim or the vehicle involved was immediately released.
 
Authorities closed all lanes on northbound 5 Freeway after the incident. They reopened the left lane at about 7 a.m.
 
As of 7:40 a.m., the incident snarled traffic on the northbound freeway up to Highway 76.
