Nathan Martin Id’d in Fatal Motorcycle Collision with Big Rig in Oxnard
OXNARD, CA (January 31, 2020) — An off-duty officer at the Oxnard Police Department died in a motorcycle accident Wednesday night near Third Street and Campton Drive.
The crash occurred at about 4:00 p.m. according to the police. Officer Nathan Martin, 45, was off-duty on his personal motorcycle. He was driving home from the station after work when a big rig made a left turn in front of him.
Based on records, Martin was a 20-year veteran of the department. He was survived by a wife, Marita, and three children. He has a brother who is also an officer.
During his stay at the Oxnard Police Department, Martin was a patrol and property crimes investigator. He was most recently working at Hueneme High School as a school resource officer. He had left the school an hour before the fatal collision, went to the station, and then was heading home.
The California Highway Patrol is conducting further investigation.
