Man in Wheelchair Critically Hurt after Pedestrian Accident on Marks Avenue

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (February 3, 2020) – According to Fresno Police, a man in his nineties is in critical condition after a pedestrian accident on Marks Avenue.
 
The crash took place at the intersection of Marks Avenue and Sussex Way on Thursday, January 30. A driver making a left turn struck the victim while he was crossing the street on his motorized wheelchair. The driver told the officer that he did not see the victim until it was too late.
 
Police stated that there is no crosswalk at that intersection but pedestrians can cross it legally.
 
The victim was hit in the head. Paramedics transported him to Community Regional Medical Center.
 
Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the incident.
