Escondido Three-Vehicle Collision Kills Driver, Injures 4 Other People

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (February 3, 2020) — A multi-vehicle crash on Harmony Grove Road in Escondido left a 28-year-old man dead and four other people injured.
 
The incident occurred Friday morning at about 7:40 a.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, it involved three vehicles — a Subaru WRX, a Toyota Prius, and a Toyota Highlander SUV.
 
For unknown reasons, the westbound Subaru veered into the eastbound lane near Wild Willow Hollow Road where it clipped the Prius. The Subaru then collided head-on into a Toyota Highlander SUV, causing it to flip.
 
The 28-year-old Chula Vista man driving the Subaru died at the scene.
 
The 38-year-old Carlsbad man operating the Highlander had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. He had three passengers also treated for minor injuries at the scene — a 26-year-old man, and two women ages 34 and 38. All are from San Marcos.
 
The 49-year-old San Marcos Man driving the Prius did not report any injuries.
 
Meantime, the crash prompted the closure of the two-lane road northwest of Lake Hodges. The roadway reopened after the cleanup and investigation.
