Crash in Angels Camp Injures Alan Yoder, Richard Fautt, and Sandra Fautt
ANGELS CAMP, CA (January 29, 2020) — Three people suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 4 near Appaloosa Road Thursday afternoon.
The incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. according to the California Highway Patrol. 67-year-old Alan Yoder of Murphys drove a Subaru Legacy eastbound on Highway 4. For unknown reasons, Yoder’s vehicle veered off the roadway. After that, it collided with the bridge crossing the west branch of Cherokee Creek.
As Yoder tried to steer his vehicle onto the highway, he crashed into a westbound Ford F-150 occupied by Richard Fautt and Sandra Fautt, both 72 and of Valley Springs. The force of the crash caused Yoder’s vehicle to overturn.
Paramedics transported Yoder to Doctor’s Medical Center with major injuries. The Fautts, on the other hand, had minor injuries.
The CHP said drugs and/or alcohol were not factors in the collision.
Meantime, the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) closed one lane of traffic while its personnel repaired the portion of the damaged bridge.
When driving, always focus on the road and be aware of your surroundings. It is also important to anticipate what the other drivers might do, especially on an interchange, an intersection, or a service road, which require even more alertness and caution than local streets.
