Francisca Villa Seriously Injured, Leonardo Flores Arrested in DUI Crash on Highway 99
MERCED COUNTY, CA (January 24, 2020) – Authorities identified Francisca Villa as the passenger injured in a DUI accident on Highway 99, Friday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 10:00 PM. For unknown reasons, 28-year-old Leonardo Flores allowed his 2012 Ford Fusion to drift to the right and leave the roadway. Then, the vehicle slammed into a tree located on the shoulder of the road.
Emergency responders rushed Villa to a Modesto hospital with major injuries. Updates on her current condition remain undisclosed.
Meanwhile, Flores was arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Emergency crews later transported him to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Then, he was booked into Merced County Jail on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
CHP officers continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
