Pedestrian Killed, William Vaden Arrested after DUI Crash on North Coast Highway

 
OCEANSIDE, CA (January 26, 2020) – A 22-year-old pedestrian died in a DUI crash on North Coast Highway, early Sunday morning.
 
According to the Oceanside Police Department, the incident happened at about 1:10 AM. A pedestrian attempted to cross the highway near the Sportfisher Drive intersection. There, a northbound vehicle hit him.
 
Emergency responders rushed the pedestrian to a hospital, where he died a short time later. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the driver, identified as 31-year-old William Vaden, remained and waited for police to arrive.
 
Vaden was booked into the Vista Detention Facility at 5:43 AM on a misdemeanor charge of DUI alcohol/drugs. He is being held on $2,500 bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
