Anthony Wright Sr., Son Killed in Plane Crash on Dry Creek Road [Placer County, CA]
Father and Son Identified as Victims in Deadly Plane Crash near Black Oak Golf Course
PLACER COUNTY, CA (January 24, 2020) – Authorities identified 80-year-old Anthony Lawrence Wright Sr. and his son 55-year-old Anthony Lawrence Wright Jr. as the men killed in a plane crash near a golf course, Friday morning.
According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened in the area of Dry Creek Road and Haines Road, at about 10:00 AM. Due to unknown circumstances, a single-engine Stinson Vultee V-77 crashed in a heavily wooded area near Black Oak Golf Course.
Emergency responders pronounced the father and son dead at the scene. Wright Sr. was a retired attorney and a pilot for about 50 years. His son, Wright Jr., was a reserve officer and a full-time records officer with the Rancho Cordova Police Department.
A third passenger suffered moderate to major injuries. Authorities did not release the identity of the injured victim.
The National Transportation and Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration continue to investigate the fatal crash.
