1 Killed, Abdulhadi Awad Arrested after Fatal Two-Car Crash on 8th Street East

 
SONOMA, CA (January 26, 2020) – A 35-year-old Sausalito man lost his life in a DUI Crash on 8th Street East, Sunday afternoon.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 12:20 PM. A southbound gray BMW, driven by 36-year-old Abdulhadi Awad, went through a red light at the intersection of Napa Road. There, it collided with a silver 2013 Subaru.
 
Emergency responders pronounced the Subaru driver dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the identity of the victim, pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, his passenger, 34-year-old Natalie Weiss of Sausalito, suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa.
 
Awad was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He suffered moderate injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Queen of the Valley Medical Center.
