Michael Ryan Fatally Injured after Vancouver Ambulance Collision
VANCOUVER, WA (January 23, 2020) – A man identified as Michael E. Ryan, 41, of Vancouver, died in a head-on crash with an ambulance on Tuesday, January 21.
According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses reported that they saw Ryan’s 2007 Saturn Ion sedan driving erratically before the incident.
Deputies responded at 1:48 p.m. to the 3600 block of Northeast 78th Street for a report of a two-car accident. Medics and firefighters also responded at the same time.
A sheriff’s office news release said that an AMR ambulance occupied by two paramedics moved east on 78th Street. Then Ryan’s westbound sedan struck the ambulance. The ambulance was not on a call and there was no patient inside.
First responders extricated Ryan from the wreckage, which took an extended amount of time. Paramedics performed life-saving treatments to him. However, but he later died at a hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.
