Mesa Head-On Crash Kills Karen Rupright, Injures Several
MESA, AZ (January 24, 2020) — A 61-year-old woman was killed, while several people were injured, in a crash in Mesa on Wednesday.
The Mesa police said the crash occurred near Higley Road and University Drive. Involved were a car and a Valley Metro bus. An investigation found that the car crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the bus.
The driver of the car, 61-year-old Karen Rupright, suffered fatal injuries. Her puppy also died in the crash.
On the other hand, the driver and passengers of the bus had minor injuries. Emergency crews transported the bus driver to a local hospital.
As to the cause of why Rupright’s car crossed the centerline is yet to be determined in an ongoing investigation.
