William Woodin Dead after Tucson Motorcycle Accident on Treat Avenue
TUCSON, AZ (January 23, 2020) — 47-year-old William S. Woodin died in a motorycle crash on N. Treat Avenue and E. Glenn Street on Sunday, January 19.
At around 2:30 p.m., Tucson traffic detectives responded at Glenn and Treat to investigate what caused the collision.
Officials determined that a 2003 Toyota Echo traveled south on Treat Avenue toward the Glenn Street. The Toyota’s driver stopped at the intersection’s stop sign. Then he went southbound across Glenn Street. At the same time, Woodin rode his 2008 Suzuki XRI motorcycle on Glenn Street. Then he moved west into the Treat Avenue intersection. The vehicles struck each other in the intersection. Woodin did not wore a helmet during the incident.
Woodin’s path on Glenn Street doesn’t have a stop sign at the Treat Avenue intersection. Yet, witnesses told the authorities that Woodin rode recklessly before the incident.
They rushed Woodin, who suffered critical injuries, to Banner University Medical Center. Not long after he arrived at the hospital, Wooden succumbed to his injuries.
The Toyota’s driver remained at the accident scene and cooperated with the investigators. Police determined that the motorist was not under the influence. Roadway evidence and interviews show that speed appears to be a factor in the collision. Police continued to investigate. There were no reports of citations or charges.
Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of William Woodin during these difficult time.
