One Dead after Fiery Crash on 280 Freeway [Burlingame, CA]

One Fatally Injured in Burlingame Fiery Crash on 280 Freeway

 
BURLINGAME, CA (January 23, 2020) – A man was killed following a fiery crash on 280 Freeway in Millbrae on Tuesday, January 21.
 
According to California Highway Patrol, the solo-car crash happened around 1:50 p.m. just north of Trousdale Drive.
 
CHP Officer Art Montiel stated that the pickup truck veered off the roadway. After that, it struck a tree and a light pole and then the vehicle burst into flames. The fire caused fatal injuries to the driver and he died at the scene.
 
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Montiel noted the roadway was wet at the time of the incident.
 
CHP closed the right lane of southbound 280 Freeway as well as the onramp from Hillcrest Boulevard. The lanes reopened around 5:25 p.m.
