Lawrence Sofaly Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on 10 Freeway [Tucson, AZ]

74-Year-Old Lawrence Sofaly Dead in Suspected DUI Crash on Interstate 10

 
TUCSON, AZ (January 18, 2020) – Authorities identified 74-year-old Lawrence Sofaly of Hondo, Texas as the victim killed in a crash on Interstate 10, Saturday afternoon.
 
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident happened shortly after noon. Due to unknown circumstances, three vehicles collided on Interstate 10 westbound near the 230 and 236 exits.
 
Emergency responders pronounced Sofaly dead at the scene. Meanwhile, two other people were transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
 
DPS shut down the roadway for almost nine hours, leaving several motorists stranded.
 
Investigators from the Vehicular Crimes Unit took over the investigation after DPS suspected impairment as a factor in the fatal crash. Authorities will release additional information to the public once it becomes available.
