Ivania Torres Fatally Struck by Two Cars on Highway 101 [San Mateo, CA]
Ivania Torres Killed, Two Passengers Injured in Alleged DUI Pedestrian Accident
SAN MATEO, CA (January 22, 2020) – A woman identified as Ivania Torres, 50, of South San Francisco, died after being hit by two cars on Sunday, January 19.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at around 2:00 a.m. Sunday, a Dodge Charger struck Torres’ white Toyota Yarris. The collision occurred on southbound Highway 101, south of 3rd Avenue.
When Torres went out of her car to talk to the driver, a second southbound vehicle, a black Toyota Camry, struck her on foot. The vehicle then crashed with the Dodge.
CHP said that Torres died at the scene around 2:00 a.m.
Paramedics rushed two passengers, one from the Yaris and the second from the Camry, to Stanford Hospital for pain.
Authorities arrested both the Camry driver and Dodge driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The crash temporarily closed all southbound lanes of Highway 101. All lanes reopened by about 5:30 a.m., CHP said.
