Man Killed in Fontana Pedestrian Accident on 10 Freeway

 
FONTANA, CA (January 21, 2020) — A vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian on 10 Freeway at Citrus Avenue in Fontana early Thursday.
 
The incident occurred at about 4:19 a.m. according to the California Highway Patrol.
 
Reports indicated that a 2003 silver Toyota Corolla was traveling on the off-ramp on eastbound 10 Freeway to Citrus Avenue in the number 1 lane. The Corolla was going 40 mph as it approached a male pedestrian.
 
The victim was walking up the off-ramp when the Corolla hit him. He died at the scene due to blunt force trauma.
 
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Division has withheld the name of the victim pending notification of his family.
 
On the other hand, the 25-year-old Fontana man driving the Corolla had lacerations to his face and hands. Emergency personnel transported him to Kaiser Hospital for treatment.
 
Meantime, the CHP issued a SigAlert for the Citrus off-ramp at about 4:46 a.m., lasting approximately until 7:22 a.m.
 
Whether the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol was not immediately clear. However, the investigation is ongoing. In addition, anyone with information may contact the Rancho Cucamonga CHP Office at (909) 980-3994.
