One Fatally Struck in Escondido Pedestrian Crash on Washington Avenue

 
ESCONDIDO, CA (January 22, 2020) — A 49-year-old man died following a pedestrian crash on Washington Avenue on Monday, January 20.
 
Escondido police Lt. Scott Walters said the accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Monday on Washington Avenue at Grape Street.
 
According to Walters, the man was crossing Washington Avenue northbound at Grape Street. After that, an eastbound 2007 Kia Spectra sedan on Washington struck him.
 
The pedestrian died at Palomar Medical Center. However, his identity is withheld pending notification of his loved ones.
 
The Kia driver, a 49-year-old Escondido woman whose name was not released, was not harmed. In addition, she stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators, authorities stated.
 
Sgt. Aaron Heath said that intoxication is not believed to be a contributing factor in the incident.
