56-Year-Old Laura Bryant Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Shaw Avenue
FRESNO, CA (January 18, 2020) – Authorities identified 56-year-old Laura Bryant as the pedestrian hit by two cars while running across Shaw Avenue, Saturday evening.
According to the Fresno Police Department, the incident happened at about 8:30 PM. The victim attempted to cross a busy street outside of a marked crosswalk to get her family some food at McDonald’s. When she reached the third lane of the road, a car struck her.
The impact of the collision sent the pedestrian into the middle lane. After that, a second vehicle hit Bryant.
Emergency responders pronounced Bryant dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the first driver remained and cooperated with investigators. Police said that the first driver tried to stop when they saw the pedestrian running across the road, but it was too late.
The driver of the second vehicle did not stop to render aid. Fresno police ask witnesses to reach out and cooperate with investigators as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
