Steven Hernandez and Passenger Hurt in Fresno Pursuit Crash

 
FRESNO, CA (January 16, 2020) — A driver, identified as Steven Hernandez, led deputies on a chase through central Fresno early Wednesday.
 
The incident occurred at about 1:00 a.m. The Fresno County sheriff’s deputies said they tried to pull Hernandez on First Street and McKinley Avenue for failing to stop at a red light.
 
However, Hernandez sped off and a chase began at speeds over 90 miles per hour through city streets.
 
When Hernandez tried to turn on Rowell Avenue near Belmont Avenue, his car hit a stop sign and then crashed into a nearby tire shop.
 
Hernandez still tried to get away, but his car stopped functioning. Emergency responders took him and his female passenger to the hospital with unknown injuries.
 
The deputies said Hernandez has a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender.
