OCEANSIDE, CA (January 17, 2020) — A female bicyclist died in a collision on Highway 76 at Benet Road in Oceanside Wednesday night.
The Oceanside police said the cyclist and a vehicle collided at about 7:20 p.m. The victim was riding across Highway 76 at Benet Road. She died at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated in the investigation.
The police closed westbound Highway 76 between Airport Road and Canyon Drive due to the crash. They issued a traffic alert for the stretch of the highway until about 11:40 p.m.
The Oceanside Police Department’s major accident investigation team is investigating the collision. They said that alcohol and speed were not factors. They urge anyone with information to contact accident investigator Angela Guerra at (760) 435-4498.
