Children Injured after Delta Jet Dumped Fuel on Elementary Schools in Los Angeles

 
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 15, 2020) – Several children were hurt after a Delta Jet dumps fuel on elementary schools in the county.
 
Delta Flight 89 from LAX to Shanghai had been returning to LAX just after takeoff. It released an undetermined amount of fuel before its return, the airline said.
 
Plane tracker FlightRadar24 stated that the Boeing 777-200 jet passed over the location at around 11:53 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14.
 
Sixty-seven children and adults received treatments at the scene of the exposure.
 
Earlier on Tuesday, LA County Fire Department tweeted that medics treated 44 people at the scene with minor injuries related to the accident.
 
Twenty children and eleven adults also received treatment at Park Avenue Elementary School in the city of Cudahy alone. Paramedics also evaluated thirteen other patients from elementary schools in the nearby city of South Gate and district of Florence Graham.
 
The departments Health HazMat units rushed to the area and confirmed the substance was jet fuel.
 
Some victims complained of skin and eye irritation. They received treatments with soap and water before medics released them.
 
The incident is still under investigation of the Federal Aviation Administration.
