Woman Fatally Hurt after Auburn Two-Car Accident on Highway 49
AUBURN, CA (January 13, 2020) – A 68-year-old woman died following a two-car accident on Highway 49 around 8:55 a.m. on Friday, January 10.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened north of Joeger Road. A woman, driving a 2000 Honda Accord, turned left onto the highway from a private road. At the same time, a woman driving a 2017 KIA Sportage moved northbound. Then the Honda pulled out in front of her.
Despite swerving to the right, the Kia struck the driver’s side of the Honda. The impact caused the Kia to overturn and land on its roof between the northbound and southbound lanes.
The Kia driver sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the Honda driver died at the hospital. Her identity was not yet released pending notification of loved ones, CHP said.
