63-Year-Old Joan Terlisner Dies after Hit-and-Run Crash on Highway 371

 
AGUANGA, CA (January 3, 2020) – Authorities identified 63-year-old Joan Terlisner of Aguanga as the woman killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 371, Friday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:15 AM. 23-year-old Antone Wayne Bayard was driving a 2011 Nissan Versa when it plowed into the rear of a 1986 Toyota pickup.
 
The impact of the collision sent the Nissan careening into oncoming traffic. There, it slammed into a 2001 Mercedes-Benz driven by Terlisner. Both the Nissan and the Mercedes overturned, eventually coming to rest on opposite sides of the roadway.
 
Emergency responders pronounced Terlisner dead at 6:54 AM. Meanwhile, the occupants of the Toyota pickup did not sustain injuries in the crash.
 
Bayard climbed out of his wrecked Nissan and fled the scene on foot. Investigators say that he may still be in the Temecula, San Diego or Anza valley areas. However, they believe that he may be planning on fleeing to Mexico.
