Walter Ashurst Fatally Injured in Fairfield Pedestrian Accident

 
FAIRFIELD, CA (January 10, 2020) — A 49-year-old Fairfield man identified as Walter Ashurst died after a pedestrian collision on Tuesday, January 7.
 
The incident happened around 6:40 a.m. in North Texas Street, near the intersection of Air Base Parkway.
 
Solano County sheriff’s deputies discovered Ashurst lying after a vehicle struck him. Medics rushed him to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
 
The 29-year-old driver who struck Ashurst remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with Fairfield police officers.
 
Investigators are still determining what caused the incident. They drugs or alcohol is a factor at the time of the crash.
 
Officials said that video footage show that there are many drivers in the area during the collision. Now, detectives want to speak with those witnesses.
