Man Killed, Five Hurt after San Diego Solo-Car Crash on Highway 905
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 10, 2020) — A 21-year-old driver died and his five teenage passengers suffered injuries in a solo-car crash on Highway 905.
At around 9:15 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, the driver sped west on Highway 905 near Beyer Boulevard. Then he lost control of the Chrysler 300 and crashed into a guardrail, according to a CHP accident report.
After hitting the guardrail, the car continued to be out of control. Then it came to rest facing the wrong way on the on-ramp from Beyer Boulevard onto west SR-905.
The impact ejected the driver San Diego resident, from the car and he died at the scene. However, officials have not yet released his name.
CHP said that the passengers who sustained injuries included two girls, ages 16 and 15, a 17-year-old boy and two men, ages 19 and 18. Medics transported the injured teens to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest. The severity of their injuries is not yet determined.
Authorities shut down the right lane of west Highway 905’s two lanes. They also closed the on-ramp from Beyer Boulevard onto the freeway. All lanes reopened a little after midnight Wednesday.
