Driver Runs Red Light and Causes Two-Vehicle Crash on Airport Drive

 
OILDALE, CA (January 6, 2020) – A Bakersfield Police Department officer suffered injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Airport Drive, late Monday morning.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 11:30 AM. The patrol car was heading northbound on Airport Drive when a westbound vehicle ran a red light. Then, the vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the patrol car near State Road.
 
Emergency responders rushed the BPD officer to a hospital with minor to moderate injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle remained and cooperated with investigators.
 
Investigators ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the collision. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
