70-Year-Old Bicyclist Hospitalized after Hit-And-Run Crash on Ely Road

 
PETALUMA, CA (January 2, 2020) – A 70-year-old bicyclist suffered injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Ely Road, Thursday evening.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 8:30 PM. The bicyclist was riding northbound on the right shoulder of Ely Road when a vehicle struck him.
 
Emergency responders rushed the bicyclist to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid.
 
The bicyclist told officers that the suspect car might have been an Audi SUV. After that, the CHP found scattered vehicle parts along the road, including a gray side-view mirror and a piece of the grille.
 
Investigators say evidence shows the vehicle may be a late model Audi Q5 or similar. Anyone with additional information should call the Santa Rosa CHP office at (707) 588-1400 as soon as possible.
