Bezawit Hailemichael Dead after Palmdale Semi-Truck Accident on 14 Freeway

 
PALMDALE, CA (January 3, 2019) – A 38-year-old woman identified as Bezawit Hailemichael died following a big rig crash in Palmdale on Friday, December 27.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle crashed into the back of a semi-truck. The accident occurred on 14 Freeway near the Palmdale Boulevard exit at 2:55 a.m.
 
Hailemichael died at the scene. The exact circumstances that led to the incident were not yet confirmed.
 
The collision shut down the northbound Palmdale Boulevard on-ramp at around 3:20 a.m. Officials shut down a Sigalert for all northbound lanes. They reopened the No. 1 lane at 5:00 a.m. and the other lanes at about 8:30 a.m.
 
The big rig was loaded with about 31,000 pounds of unknown cargo, the CHP said.
 
The accident together with the subsequent death and on-scene investigation caused a massive traffic jam on the 14 Freeway.
 
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
