Geordon Pollette Dies in Temecula Head-On Crash on Highway 79

 
TEMECULA, CA (January 07, 2020) — 23-year-old Geordon Pollette of Aguanga died in a head-on collision in Temecula early Friday morning.
 
The California Highway Patrol said the incident occurred on Highway 79, west of Pauba Road, at about 12:20 a.m.
 
50-year-old Matteo Monica of San Diego drove a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer eastbound on the highway. After that, he encountered a slower vehicle and accelerated to get around.
 
An investigation showed that Monica crossed over the double yellow lines and entered the westbound traffic lane to pass the slower vehicle. After that, he suddenly encountered a westbound 2004 Kia Rio occupied by 59-year-old Becki Teague and Pollette who was in the front passenger seat.
 
Both vehicles had no time to swerve. They collided head-on and then Monica’s car caught fire.
 
Pollette suffered massive trauma. As a result, the paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
 
First responders took Teague Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar in serious condition. In addition, they took Monica to the same hospital with serious injuries.
