Marc Wohlfeil Arrested after Hit-and-Run Crash near Pechanga Arena
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 3, 2020) – Authorities identified 54-year-old Marc Wohlfeil as the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash near Pechanga Arena, Friday evening.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident happened at about 9:30 PM. Two women and a man attempted to cross Sports Arena Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk. At the same time, a silver 2000 Ford Mustang, driven by Wohlfeil, was leaving a nearby Home Depot parking lot.
The vehicle turned right and struck the pedestrians near Kemper Street.
Emergency responders rushed the three pedestrians to a hospital for treatment. One of the victims, a 55-year-old woman, suffered fractures to her face and a brain bleed. The second victim, a 60-year-old woman, sustained a fractured pelvis and left ankle. A 54-year-old man suffered a minor leg injury and cuts to his hands.
Wohlfeil did not stop to render aid and continued driving until Harbor Police spotted his vehicle near Shelter Island. Authorities later arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and felony hit-and-run charges.
San Diego police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. Investigators will release additional information once it becomes available.
