Man Dead in Pedestrian Crash on 91 Freeway [Compton, CA]

Man Fatally Injured after Compton Pedestrian Crash on 91 Freeway at Wilmington Avenue

 
COMPTON, CA (January 4, 2020) – A pedestrian died following a pedestrian crash on 91 Freeway in Compton on Wednesday, January 1.
 
According to the CHP, at 5:30 a.m., they received reports about a pedestrian lying in the No. 3 lane of the Artesia Freeway at Wilmington Avenue. An off-duty Redondo Beach police officer said that they noticed the body in the No. 4 lane.
 
A witness stated that vehicles swerved to avoid the body. The witness added that a car with damage consistent with a traffic collision was close by.
 
Compton Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene at 5:47 a.m.
 
California Highway Patrol described the victim as a man who was approximately 45 years old.
 
Officials issued a SigAlert at 5:54 a.m.
