Man Killed after Smith River Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 101

 
SMITH RIVER, CA (January 7, 2019) – A 37-year-old male from Roseburg, Ore., died following a hit-and-run accident on Highway 101 on Thursday, January 2.
 
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on the west shoulder of U.S. Highway 101, north of Timbers Boulevard.
 
According to a California Highway Patrol, a vehicle traveling southbound struck the pedestrian. Then the driver fled the crash area in the southbound direction.
 
Emergency responders rushed the male pedestrian to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City by Del Norte Ambulance. After that, they airlifted him to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, Ore., where he died.
 
The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of his loved ones.
 
The cause of the incident is not yet released. Other information about the hit-and-run vehicle was not available due to the ongoing investigation.
