Dustin Degetaire Arrested, Woman and Child Injured after Hit-and-Run Crash on Paradise Road

 
MODESTO, CA (January 6, 2020) – Modesto police arrested Dustin Degetaire, 21, of Jamestown after he stole a truck and injured two people on New Year’s Eve.
 
Just before 10 a.m., officers noticed someone driving a Toyota Tacoma which had been reported stolen. The person drove recklessly near the intersection of Paradise Road and Yosemite Avenue.
 
As the driver sped down Yosemite Avenue, officers turned on their emergency lights in pursuit of the truck.
 
The driver then ran a stop sign and crashed with a Volkswagen Passat driven by a 24-year-old woman. A 3-year-old, who was restrained in a child safety seat, was also in the vehicle.
 
Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital with serious injuries. The child sustained minor injuries, police said.
 
Officials arrested Degetaire approximately a block away from the crash. He faces charges of vehicle theft, burglary, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, and hit-and-run causing injuries.
