David Mora Dead, Jonni Wallace and Leslie Billings Injured after Lancaster Two-Car Crash on Highway 138

 
LANCASTER, CA (January 3, 2020) – 56-year-old Taft resident David Mora died and two others sustained injuries in a crash on Thursday, December 26.
 
According to a California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. on Highway 138 west of 90th Street West.
 
Leslie Billings, 41, of Rifle, Colo., drove a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe westbound on Highway 138 at a high rate of speed in a slick roadway. Then Billings lost control and the Hyundai veered into the eastbound lane. After that, it colliding head-on with a 2007 Freight-liner Truck/Tractor.
 
Mora, a backseat passenger in the Hyundai, suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
 
Billings and another passenger of the Hyundai, 41-year-old Jonni Wallace of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, sustained major injuries. Paramedics rushed them to Antelope Valley Hospital, according to the CHP report.
 
The big rig’s driver, 49-year-old Carlos Hurtado of Los Angeles, was not harmed in the incident.
 
Authorities do not suspect alcohol or drugs as a factor in this collision, CHP reports said.
