31-Year-Old Laroy Kelly Hospitalized after E-Bike Crash on Bernard Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 30, 2019) – Authorities identified 31-year-old Laroy Kelly of Bakersfield as the man injured in an electric bicycle crash on Bernard Street, Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:00 PM. A Toyota attempted to make a left turn Bernard Street onto Miller Street. Then, Kelly struck the rear of the Toyota. The impact of the collision ejected Kelly from his electric bike.
Emergency responders rushed Kelly to a hospital with major injuries. Meanwhile, the 34-year-old Toyota driver remained and cooperated with investigators.
Officers ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors in the collision. In addition, investigators noted that Kelly was not wearing a helmet and his bicycle had no lights on. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
