One Dead after Hit-and-Run Crash on Hesperia Road

 
HESPERIA, CA (January 6, 2020) — A 40-year-old homeless man died in a hit-and-run crash on Hesperia Road on Thursday, January 2.
 
The accident occurred at around 3:30 a.m. in the area of Hesperia Road and Mojave Street.
 
According to a sheriff’s news release, a witness driving in the northbound lane of Hesperia Road slowed down for what appeared to be debris on the roadway. However, the witness discovered the deceased pedestrian.
 
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Bachman confirmed that it is a fatal hit-and-run involving a vehicle versus a pedestrian.
 
Officials closed the northbound and southbound lanes of Hesperia Road from Mojave Street to Lemon Street until around 8:00 a.m.
 
It is not yet determined if speed or impairment contributed as a factor in the incident. The name of the deceased is pending next of kin notification by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
