Debra Christie Arrested, One Dead, Two Hurt after Fair Oaks Rollover Crash
FAIR OAKS, CA (January 6, 2020) – Officers arrested Debra Christie after a rollover accident that killed a man that was in her car on Monday, December 30.
According to California Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 9 p.m. on Sunset Avenue at Pennsylvania Avenue. The vehicle traveled eastbound on Sunset. Then for an unknown reason, it left the road and hit a guy-wire of a power pole. The force of the incident caused the vehicle to overturn and eject a passenger.
CHP said that the person who was ejected died after the car overturned on top of them.
There were two other teenage passengers inside the vehicle at the time. Both had their seatbelts on, officers said. However, paramedics brought them to the hospital as a precaution.
The driver of the car – identified as Debra Glenell Christie, 39, of Folsom – ran away from the scene of the crash. Officers later arrested her Monday night in the North Sacramento area.
Officers discovered that Christie drove under the influence at the time of the incident.
Authorities booked Christie into Sacramento County Jail. She faces several felony charges, including DUI, hit-and-run, manslaughter and a probation violation.
